Shakir Hassan Al Said

Born in Samawa, Iraq. Al Said was a painter, sculptor, writer, and is considered one of Iraq's most influential and innovative artists. 





He co-founded in 1951 with Jawad Saleem, the Baghdad Modern Art Group, one of the most unique arts movements in the Middle East in the post WW II, 








that aimed to achieve a modern artistic approach that found inspiration from tradition. He formed the One Dimension group in 1971, a collective that was primarily concerned with the exploration of the Arabic letter.
